LifeScience RI is used as authentication service. Choose an identity provider on the next page, enter your login credentials and allow the service to share your user information.
For example, if you choose your home institution, say, University of Tübingen, you are forwarded to the Login page of your institution where you can use your institutional login information. Likewise, you can use any other of the offered options.

Having selected your home institution as identity provider, your are directed towards a sign in page of your institution. You sign in using your institutional credentials.

If you are signing in for the first time (and occasionally again), you will have to give your consent to use the selected authentication for logging into the TRR356 PLantMicrobe DataHUB.

When you have signed in successfully, you will be re-directed to the homepage aka “Explore Gitlab” page (see Fig 1).
If you are encountering any problems, please contact support-plantmicrobe@zdv.uni-tuebingen.de.
Logging into the TRR356 PlantMicrobe DataHUB
Once you have gotten through with the registration with LifeScience RI for the TRR356 PlantMicrobe DataHUB, you will be logged in after you have entered and submitted your username and password. Often you will find that the log in dialogue (Fig 2) will initially only show you the login option that was used the last time round.
You will not see the window from Fig 5 soon again, if you select another option than “Just this time” (Fig 5).
Again, if you are encountering any problems, please contact support-plantmicrobe@zdv.uni-tuebingen.de.
LifeScience RI authentication help
If you created a login using a specific identity provider, it is recommended to stick to it.
If you use a different identity from what you used before, you will be presented with a page asking you to register.

Pressing the “Proceed to register for an account” button will take you to a page that will give you an indication which identity provider you used before.

If you are encountering any problems, please contact support-plantmicrobe@zdv.uni-tuebingen.de.
Linking additional authentications
It is possible to use different authentications for the same identity (here: DataHUB user). It may even be an advantage to link more than one authentication, in case one of the identity provider services is intermittently not functioning. To do so, go to Life Science Login
Fig 6 Logging into LifeScience RI
After signing in with your existing authentication, choose “Linked accounts” from the left-hand menu and press “Add”.
Fig 7 Adding a linked account to your Life Science RI User profile
You can now use the added authentication to log into the DataHUB, too. Different linked authentications all relate to the same user in the DataHUB.
Dealing with multiple registrations
If you happened to have registered multiple times with LifeScienceRI (see Fig 4), either by accident, or because you lost access to a former registration when you changed institutions, it is possible to have the two registrations merged by contacting support@aai.lifescience-ri.eu.
Unmerged registrations produce separate users in the DataHUB.
